"Czech" out our Kolacky's! :)

To help celebrate Dozinky Days and the Czech culture, we made Kolacky's in Room 9. The first graders taste tasted several filling flavors and then chose one to put into their very own Kolacky! The flavors were: strawberry, apple, raspberry, and prune. We had many brave first graders who tried prune, but no one chose it as their favorite! :) We also learned how to Polka and practiced this fun dance at our morning meeting! Happy Dozinky Days!

Varsity Trojan Soccer Players!

Today two players from the Varsity Trojan Soccer team came to read to Room 9. The students loved being able to meet the players and hear more about the high school soccer team. Thanks for coming to Falcon Ridge, Trojan Soccer team!

We LOVE Lunch Bunch!

The firsties have been working really hard our first few weeks of school! To help reward their excellent efforts and great behavior, they voted to have a class "Lunch Bunch" in our classroom! They thought it was absolutely wonderful to be able to eat lunch in our room together. We had an awesome time! Below are some pictures from this fun little event! Enjoy! :)

ABC Review- StoryBots!

The firsties have really been enjoying our first few weeks together! During these first few weeks, we like to take the time to review major concepts learned in Kindergarten. One of these concepts is our ABC review. Each day we focus on a few letters from the alphabet to help review writing the letters and their sounds. Welcome Back Picnic

Thank you SO much to all the families and firsties that attended the Welcome Back Picnic last evening! It was great to see you all! Here are some great photos I was able to snap in between all the fun!

First Day of First Grade!

We had such a wonderful first day today! We made new friends, we learned more about classroom procedures, and we even got to see the amazing magic dough change colors right before our eyes! :) (The saying goes, that if the magic dough changes colors we are going to have a FANTASTIC first grade year! See the example below. The dough changed from BLUE to GREEN!)
